Respite Provider


We are currently looking for…

Full and part-time respite providers to provide services to youth in community settings. Respite providers are not mental health professionals, but rather act as service providers. Salt Lake County Medicaid-funded respite services are designed to give parents, guardians, or other caregivers of youth a temporary break from providing care, allowing them to rest, work, or attend to personal needs without compromising the youth’s safety or well-being. Respite care provides short-term, supervised care. Respite care providers deliver small group care to youth on a prescribed schedule. This position provides a great deal of flexibility and autonomy, with competitive pay.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Direct care & supervision of a small group of youth, usually 4 at a time

  • Make outreach to guardians

  • Establish a weekly schedule & routine for assigned groups, 0-16 hours each week

  • Submit weekly billing, documentation, & reimbursement

Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years old or older.

  • Must have reliable vehicle for transportation of youth

    • Maintain car insurance at 100K/300K, cannot have a business exclusion on auto policy

    • Car must pass an auto inspection

    • Seatbelts & mirrors in working order

    • Fire extinguisher, first aide kit, and emergency kit must be placed in the vehicle (provided by Hopeful Beginnings)

  • Watch transportation video and take a saftey quiz

  • Attend New Employee Orientation

  • Must clear a federal background check with State Office of Licensing

  • Must clear monthly LEIE/SAM checks for OPTUM

  • Attend training with the Respite Program Supervisor

  • Attend monthly staff meetings

  • Opportunities of shadowing other providers are offered
